يجري القضاء

قبل عام،A year ago,

كانت الدنيا كما هي اليوم،the world was as it is today;

لم يتغير شيءnothing changed.

كل شيء في مكانهEverything is in its place.

غير أن هناك أحباباً وأصحاباً كانوا بيننا كالزهر،However, there were loved ones and friends who were among us like flowers,

وها هم اليوم في ظلمة القبرand here they are today in the darkness of the grave.

وهل في الدنيا أقسى من فقد حبيب؟Is there anything in this world harsher than losing a loved one?

فقدناك يا أبا سلمان،We lost you, O Abu Salman,

وها قد مضى عام على فقدك،and a year has passed since your passing,

ولكنbut...

ما زلت أراكI still see you.

أراك في كل شيء حوليI see you in everything around me.

فقد درجنا صغاراً حتى كبرنا،We walked together as children until we grew up,

وما زلت تكبر في عيني دمعاً وألماً،and you still grow in my eyes as tears and pain,

حتى نلقاك في دار الخلد إن شاء اللهuntil we meet you in the Abode of Eternity, God willing.

رحمه اللهmay God have mercy on him.

يجري القضاء وحكم الله نرضاهFate runs its course, and we accept God's decree

والمرء يصبر إذعانا لمولاهA person remains patient when submitting to his Lord.

تأتي الحياة بأهوال مفزعةLife brings terrifying horrors

والله يعظم في البلوى عطاياهYet God increases His gifts during trials.

حكم الإله على الدنيا وزخرفهاThe decree of the Almighty upon the world and its adornments

أن الفناء لمن فيها كتبناهIs that annihilation is written for all who are in it.

عز الفراق لمحبوب محبتهHard is the separation from a loved one whose affection

تدمي الفؤاد إذا يوم فقدناهMakes the heart bleed if one day we lose him.

إذا ذكرت أبا سلمان هيجنيWhen I remember Abu Salman, it stirs within me

فقد الحبيب على عهد قضيناهThe loss of a beloved with whom we spent our time.

والله ما فتأت عيناي تذكرهBy God, my eyes never cease to remember him

وما نسيت ورب البيت ذكراهAnd I have not forgotten his memory behind the house.

وما نسيت مع الأيام بسمتهNor have I forgotten, through the passing days, his smile

يهدي البشاشة من يلقى ويلقاهSpreading cheer to whomever he met and who met him.

كل الحياة ومن فيها يذكرنيAll of life and everyone in it reminds me of him

كل الحياة ارى فيها محياهIn all of life, I see his face.

إذا مررت بدار كان يسكنهاWhenever I pass by a house where he used to live

و إن سلكت سبيلا كان ممشاهOr walk a path that was his walkway.

وإن سمعت لأيات مرتلةWhenever I hear verses of the Quran recited

اواستمعت نشيدا كان يهواهOr listen to a chant (nasheed) that he used to love.

وإن نظرت إلى رفي ومكتبتيWhenever I look at a shelf or a library

يا لوعة الفقد من ذكرى هداياهOh, the agony of loss from the memory of his gifts.

عيناي تدمع والأحزان تعصرنيMy eyes weep and sorrows crush me

والقلب يحرق والآهات تنعاهMy heart burns and sighs mourn him.

يبكي الفؤاد وتبكي العين من المThe heart cries and the eye weeps from pain

أواه يا دمعة المحزون أواهOh, the tear of the grieving one, oh!

عيناي تدمع والأحزان تعصرنيMy eyes weep and sorrows crush me

والقلب يحرق والآهات تنعاهMy heart burns and sighs mourn him.

يبكي الفؤاد وتبكي العين من المThe heart cries and the eye weeps from pain

أواه يا دمعة المحزون أواهOh, the tear of the grieving one, oh!
